Heathview Irish Wolfhounds was registered with CKC in 1992. The name Heathview was inspired by Ian’s father’s birthplace and family home in Ireland.
Learning about this breed has been a serious commitment. A breeder should adhere to ethical breeding practices as outlined in the IWCC Code of Ethics and have a vision to improve (by degrees) their interpretation of the breed standard. This requires honesty, integrity and seeking knowledge from other reputable sources. Ian and Laurie have sought mentors in the breed locally and internationally.
The Rutherford’s see the Irish Wolfhound as part of their family and their everyday lives. They provide great joy and companionship. They continue to breed for themselves approximately every two to three years, mainly to improve on what they have and to replace the loved ones that have passed. Showing these magnificent animals is close to their hearts as it is a way to remain connected and to keep focused on what we are trying to accomplish as protectorates of the breed.

Hello;
My name is Penny Goodz and would like to inquire about your IW puppies.
I am looking for a companion for my 5 yrs. old male… who is very lonely since we have lost our girl Pix who was 9 due to cancer. Mungo have a very quiet social gentlemen who has never lived without another IW.
We are not looking for a show dog, we are looking for a family pet. We have always held no breed contracts with the two breeders that our dogs came from.
We live in Kenora Ontario.
